Connecting Essential School Supplies across NSW
In September 2023, the DV Collective facilitated a transformative partnership between Zephyr Education, a Queensland-based charity, and various women's shelters in New South Wales, marking a significant step forward in supporting children affected by domestic violence.
Zephyr Education, renowned for its commitment to supplying children in shelters with essential school items, swiftly expanded its reach to include NSW shelters. Their model ensures that children arriving at refuges receive books, uniforms, shoes, stationery, laptops, iPads, sports uniforms, swim packs and more, within 48 hours of their arrival, all at no cost to the shelter.
With support already extended to 185 organisations in Queensland, Zephyr Education received funding to extend their services to NSW shelters. This initiative was met with enthusiasm and collaboration of the DV Collective, which facilitated connections between Zephyr Education and 23 shelters across NSW.
In a heartfelt message, Isabella of Zephyr Education expressed gratitude for the partnership, acknowledging the invaluable assistance provided by the DV Collective. As registrations from shelters poured in, the impact of this collaboration became evident, with each child receiving essential school items that alleviated financial burdens for the shelters.
The significance of this support cannot be overstated. By providing free school items for every child entering the refuge, Zephyr Education not only eases the immediate financial strain on shelters but also ensures that resources can be redirected to other critical areas where they are most needed.
