Bangle Foundation’s Path to Resilience

DGR status would open the door for The Bangle Foundation to access more resources and support for the valuable work they do supporting women and children daily.

For over a decade, the Bangle Foundation has provided unwavering support for women of South Asian heritage experiencing domestic abuse. Their culturally and linguistically tailored services, including crisis intervention, safety planning, and referrals, have been a lifeline for up to 600 women annually, both over the phone and in person.

However, despite their vital role in the community, the Bangle Foundation faced significant challenges, including securing funding and attaining Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status, which would enable them to access further resources and support.

Recognising the urgent need to strengthen the Bangle Foundation's capacity to help themselves, the DV Collective swiftly stepped in. Armed with the feedback from a previous DGR application, the DV Collective reached out to Arabella Tuck at Allen & Overy, a legal firm known for its pro bono work.

Arabella, deeply engaged with the DV Collective's mission, readily took on the case as a pro bono endeavour. Leveraging her expertise, she worked tirelessly to navigate the complexities of the DGR application process, ensuring that the Bangle Foundation's voice was heard, and their needs addressed.

The Bangle Foundation and Allen & Overy were introduced through this collaboration, forming a partnership that promises to enhance the foundation's ability to serve the community effectively. With Arabella's guidance and support, the Bangle Foundation moved closer to attaining the DGR status they had long pursued, paving the way for increased funding and opportunities for growth.

With ongoing support from the DV Collective and allies like Allen & Overy, the path to healing for domestic abuse survivors is looking much brighter.
